Fastening off a crochet project is not as difficult as you might think! Of course, this skill is immensely important to have, as you'll need it for any and every crochet project you make.
How to fasten off:
- Slip stitch (sl st) into the first stitch of the round OR the next stitch.
- Ch 1.
- Cut your yarn at least six inches from your project. If the pattern calls for leaving a long tail for sewing, cut your yarn to leave as long of a tail as you'll need for the sewing--typically around 12 inches or more to be safe.
- Pull the yarn tail all the way through the chain loop and pull it tight to secure the project.
