The single crochet invisible decrease (sc inv dec) stitch is important in crochet because it makes rounds smaller. Its function is opposite from increase stitches (like the single crochet increase, sc inc). These stitches help to shape/form amigurumi plushies, along with single crochet increases.
How to make a single crochet invisible decrease (sc inv dec) stitch–in word form:
A single crochet invisible decrease is just like a single crochet (sc) stitch except that when you insert your hook into the work, you insert your hook specifically into the front loops of the next two stitches.
- Insert your hook into the front loops of the next two stitches.
- Yarn over.
- Pull through the work (the front loops). After pulling through the work, you should have two loops on your hook.
- Yarn over.
- Pull through the two loops.
